(STATEHOUSE) - Two democratic legislators have introduced bills to repeal Indiana’s voter ID law.
Indianapolis Representative John Day and Muncie Senator Sue Errington say voters should be able to present a utility bill, pay stub, or government ID without the picture ID required by state law.
Two federal courts have rejected legal challenges to the law, saying opponents have yet to produce anyone denied the chance to vote. Day says the harm is more intangible, with voters discouraged from even trying to vote.
Secretary of State Todd Rokita, a Republican, responds the only people the law has kept from voting are "the cheaters."
