(STATEHOUSE) - Governor Daniels has stressed bipartisan cooperation on issues from full-day kindergarten to health insurance in his State of the State address.

As promised, Daniels had no surprises, he discussed the same priorities he's spelled out since election day. But Daniels repeatedly made reference to that election, which put democrats in control of the house.

Daniels says the shift makes bipartisanship the only way forward. "The cooperation that has eluded us on most occasions is now the only alternative to stalemate and paralysis," Daniels said. "If I too often did not find the words to bring it about, I will have to do better."

Daniels invited legislators to "think big" in crafting health coverage for the uninsured, for which he's proposed cigarette taxes to raise the money.
