(BEDFORD) - Bedford Mayor Joe Klumpp has been featured in a local media story about the possibility of abolishing Indiana property taxes.

The Senate proposal would force legislators to replace what is considered an old and unfair system.

Klumpp was quoted as saying the action would be "a lofty goal." He added, "It may be unrealistic to eliminate property taxes." He says "A better goal would be just to try to decrease or slow or stop the growth of property taxes."

Klumpp, along with several other mayors from Indiana, is part of a Statehouse lobbying effort by the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns. Klumpp is president of the association this year.
