Hoosier Freshman Senator Mugged

Last updated on Wednesday, January 10, 2007

(STATEHOUSE) - Muncie Senator Sue Errington was back on the Senate floor Tuesday, 14 hours after ending her second day at the Statehouse with a mugging that left her with a black eye and broken cheekbone.

Errington says she's staying with a friend on Indy's northside during the legislative session.

She says she stopped at a CVS drugstore on the way there to pick up some milk, and was accosted at gunpoint in the parking lot by two men who grabbed her purse. The freshman democrat says she resisted until she saw the gun. She let go of the purse, but when the second robber grabbed for the milk, she reflexively wouldn't let go of that either, and the holdup man slugged her in the eye.
