FSSA Dir. Fights Back On New Contract

Last updated on Thursday, January 11, 2007

(UNDATED) - The head of Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration is defending the billion-dollar contract to privatize some tasks before a skeptical House Committee.

FSSA Secretary Mitch Roob says the contract with an IBM-led consortium guarantees job offers to current employees, at equal or better pay.

And he argues the state isn't equipped to do the technology upgrade needed to standardize welfare eligibility decisions.
