Study Shows It's Not Working In Iraq

Last updated on Thursday, December 7, 2006

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The Iraq study group has concluded that President Bush’s policy in Iraq “is not working.”

The assessment points to the rising level of violence in Iraq. Former Indiana Congressman and group co-chair Lee Hamilton says the panel is urging the Bush Administration to use diplomacy to stabilize Iraq and allow withdrawal of most combat troops by early 2008.

The report also says "The ability of the United States to influence events within Iraq is diminishing." President Bush pledged to treat each proposal seriously and act in a timely fashion.
