(STATEHOUSE) - Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has announced a proposal for all day kindergarten.
He wants to start it in the fall of next year. Daniels says it is an important investment in the future and says the state should fund the program.
The program makes all day kindergarten voluntary and targets the poorest students first. The cost would eventually reach $250-million a year by 2012. Daniels says funding proposals would be discussed in two weeks when a new revenue forecast is available.
