Lawmaker Attempting To Close Open Door Law Loophole

(STATEHOUSE) - An Indiana lawmaker says he wants to close a loophole in state statute which he says allows groups to get around the state’s open door law.

Democrat Russ Stillwell, of Boonville, says he wants to do away with the practice of "serial meetings," which are conducted in private and without a quorum.

Stillwell says the decisions made in these meetings often carry over to public meetings of decision-making boards, but they don't allow the public to hear how the decisions were made.
