(BLOOMINGTON) - Recounts in contested elections in Monroe County are suddenly moving much more quickly following a judge’s comments.
Judge Mary Ellen Diekhoff got the process moving again by reminding vote counters not to listen to complaints from to republican leaders, who want some votes to receive extra scrutiny. Diekhoff says that's not their job, counting is.
Thus, despite only eight precincts being counted during the week's first four days, nine were tallied on Friday alone.
