(STATEHOUSE) - Governor Mitch Daniels has announced a plan to lease out the Hoosier Lottery in exchange for a large payment to the state to put toward a new scholarship fund called “Hoosier Hopes.”
Daniels says this scholarship is designed to entice Hoosier high school and college students into not only going to school in Indiana, but staying here after graduation.
Under Daniels' plan, the state could get as much as one billion dollars for the lottery, with much of that going into this scholarship fund.
