(WASHINGTON, D-C) - U.S. House Republicans meet today to choose between Indiana’s Mike Pence and Ohio’s John Boehner for the job of Minority Leader.
Boehner was Majority Leader before last week's election, and pence told a GOP caucus Boehner "deserves a medal" for the job he did.
But he argues the role of a Minority Leader is different, and that he's better qualified to present a positive alternative to what he predicts will be the "big government liberalism" of the new Democratic Majority.
It takes 103 votes to win. Pence won't say how many commitments he has, but says he's "encouraged."
