(BLOOMINGTON) - The youngest man ever elected to a city council seat in Indiana says he’s stepping down.

Jason Banach will leave the Bloomington city council at the end of this month. The 33-year old was first elected in 1995 at age 22, shortly after graduating from Indiana University.

Banach says he'll focus on his duties as Assistant Director of Real Estate for I.U. and complete his master's degree in Public Affairs from the school.

Banach was elected to three terms on the council before electing to vacate his seat.
