State Wins Fax Lawsuit

(STATEHOUSE) - Though it may not collect any of the money, the state has won a lawsuit which effectively shuts down a company which sent spam faxes.
Fax.com was the loser in a $51-million judgment filed by the states of Indiana and California, as well as seven companies and seven private citizens.
Indiana Attorney General Steve carter says fax.com was sending thousands of unsolicited messages by luring people into housing computers whose sole purpose was clogging fax machine phone lines with the spam.
Indiana enacted a Do-Not-Fax law during the 2006 legislative session. The law takes effect on January first.
