State Prayer To Be Appealed In Court
(STATEHOUSE) - The man in charge of parliamentary procedure inside the Indiana House of Representatives is backing the speaker’s push for sectarian prayer in the statehouse.
The Indiana Civil Liberties Union claims House Speaker Brian Bosma broke the law by allowing Christians to reference Jesus Christ in Statehouse prayer. But parliamentarian Bill Bock labels the prayer a reflection of most Indiana residents' beliefs.
Bosma has appealed a Federal Court ruling that restricts prayer content. That appeal will be heard September 7th in 7th Circuit Court.
