(STATEHOUSE) - Governor Daniels says southeast Indiana is in the running for a Honda automotive plant.
There's been speculation for months about a major deal in the works in Decatur and Ripley counties, with an until-now unknown buyer negotiating to buy hundreds of acres. Until now, no one would confirm who the prospective occupant was.
Beyond saying it's Honda, Daniels is remaining tight-lipped, other than to say Indiana's competing with other states to win the plant... and that the potential investment is "significantly larger than earlier news reports indicated."
