Indiana To Receive First-Time Award
(STATEHOUSE) - Indiana is one of only three states in nation to receive a first-time award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s rural development program.
The U.S.D.A. gave the Indiana Housing Authority $2.1-million to rehabilitate multi-family units in rural communities. The state has identified 70 such properties. The money, however, will only be able to fund 15 to 20 projects and the beneficiaries have not been identified yet.
The state will match that money dollar-for-dollar. Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman says the administration recognizes that growth Indiana's economy starts at home.
