STATEHOUSE—A bill which allows gun owners to purchase lifetime licenses is headed to the Governor’s desk.
State Rep. Terri Austin says the self-reporting language essentially puts the burden on convicted felons, who have gun permits, to let jpolice know that his or her gun license should be revoked. But only if the state can get federal funds for the technology required to participate in an already established national program.
Another part of the bill allows permit fees in excess of $1.1-million to go to State Police for meth investigations. That money would be earmarked for technology which would be used to monitor pharmacy sales of pseudoephedrine.
The legislation also makes many other updates to the state's handgun renewal laws.
