Daniels Already Pitching Plans To Spend The Toll Road Money

(STATEHOUSE) - Governor Daniels is already sketching plans for a burst of road construction with the money from the Toll Road Lease while legislators continue the debate over whether it was a good idea.
Daniels will be talking with his Transportation Commissioner this week to map out what comes first in a 10-year, $6-billion highway plan. He says some projects will probably start this year, possibly ugardes to U.S. 31 or the Lafayette-to-Ft. Wayne Hoosier Heartland corridor.
He says the lease deal immediately makes Indiana the nation's transportation leader. House Speaker Brian Bosma plans a visit to northern Indiana this week to talk up the benefits of the plan. He acknowledges residents remain hostile to it. Minority leader Patrick Bauer predicts flaws in the lease agreement will become clearer in the years ahead.
