(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - U.S. Senator Evan Bayh is planning to introduce legislation to protect military families nationwide from protesters who picket and disrupt the funeral of fallen American soldiers.

Bayh's Dignity for Military Funerals Act was prompted after he learned of the protest at an Evansville funeral.

State Representative Brent Steele, of Bedford, was the first in the nation to introduce similar legislation for the state, which passed quickly through both the House and Senate and was signed by Governor Mitch Daniels just last week.
