STATEHOUSE—More Senate hearings are expected this week on the Governor’s Major Moves package.

Senate leaders have said they believe the bill will pass, but reserve the right to change some of the language. Gov. Mitch Daniels agrees they have this responsibility and says he's willing to negotiate on "fringe" parts of the bill.

Daniels says he'll accept just about anything the legislature would offer as long as it doesn't "undo" the bid for the Indiana Toll Road lease. Daniels also says it's important that a provision remain intact that allows the state to explore "Public-Private" partnership arrangements. He says this so-called public-private partnership is the only way the I-69 extension will ever be built.

Daniels also says companies won't likely invest the money required to develop a bid unless state law allows for such partnerships. He says 18 states already have this authority.
