Congressman Introduces Prayer Reversal Legislation
STATEHOUSE—An Indiana Congressman has introduced legislation which could lead to the reversal of a ban on prayer in the Indiana House.
Congressman Mike Sodrel introduced House Resolution 4776 on the floor Thursday. He'll travel to the Indiana Statehouse Tuesday to explain the measure to state legislators.
The resolution would essentially remove the federal judiciary's ability to review the content of speech that occurs during sessions of state legislative bodies. The introduction of this legislation follows a federal ban on prayers which refer to Jesus Christ or a specific religion in the Indiana General Assembly.
