Indiana Representatives Begin Work Today

Last updated on Tuesday, January 3, 2006

The State House of Representatives convenes today for 10 weeks of work.

With the Republicans holding the governor's office and a majority in both chambers, time will tell just how much will be accomplished.

Governor Daniels would like to pay for a few highway projects by first leasing the Indiana Toll Road to a private company. According to his estimates that could bring in more than two-billion-dollars.

The Interstate Extension of 69, still on the drawing boards is also considered by Daniels a road that should become a leased toll road. Daniels is hoping to be given the authority to make those changes a reality.

The Governor has presented his 5.3 billion dollar highway package as a means to create 100,000 jobs.
