STATEHOUSE—American ingenuity, you might say. The way members of the Indiana House of Representatives offered prayers that specifically mentioned Christ by voluntarily, informally praying away from the podium, by gathering in the back of the chamber.

House Speaker, Republican Brian Bosma says he still believes that District Court Judge David Hamilton's ruling tramples on free speech. Bosma plans to appeal it to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

For now, he will continue the new practice of voluntary prayer away from the podium. The House Speaker says: "We are a nation of laws, even laws that we disagree with".

The ruling by Judge Hamilton stemmed from a lawsuit filed by the ACLU on behalf of four people who said they found the tradition of offering the usually christian prayers offensive.
