An Indiana Lawmaker Votes Against Alito's Nomination
Last updated on Tuesday, January 31, 2006
WASHINGTON, D.C.—During confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, at least one Indiana lawmaker voted to strike down the nomination.
Senator Evan Bayh says he can't support Alito because of vagueness in the judge's record of federal decisions.
Bayh also criticized the conformation process, likening it to a theatre production where nominees say very little to avoid appearing controversial.
