Prayers in Statehouse can't mention "Jesus Christ"

STATEHOUSE—In addition to being on the receiving end of some chilly weather, we all are on the chilling end of a ruling by Federal Judge David Hamilton. The Federal Judge has ruled that the prayers which open sessions of the Indiana House of Representatives can no longer mention “Jesus Christ” or advance one religious denomination.

Federal Judge Hamilton says the traditional invocation can continue, but people giving the prayer must be advised not to advance one faith and not to use Jesus' name or title. The ruling was a major gift to the Indiana Civil Liberties Union who applauded the decision.

Readers, are you aware that lawyers for the ACLU are paid with your tax dollars? Republican speaker of the House, Brian Bosma calls the ruling "intolerable" and says he will ask Attorney General Steve Carter to examine every option for appeal.
