Daniels looking to reduce State Attorneys
The Daniels administration has been looking for savings all year by reducing the number of positions within State Government, on the radar now are Indiana State Attorneys.
Governor Mitch Daniels says half jokingly that there is a "lawyer reduction program". His staff found that each department has its own representation.
Daniels believes some of their cases could be handled centrally within the Attorney General's office, but changes are being handled on a case-by-case basis.
Daniels acknowledged a recent move which transferred some merit attorneys from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to the Attorney General's office. Daniels says the effort will be broader than that.
