Richard E. Purlee of Mitchell passed away Saturday evening, December 19th at his residence at the age of 67.
Born in 1942 in New Albany to parents Richard S. andEsther L. (Oakes) Purlee, he had been married to Suetta Yaney since 2004.
Richard was a graduate of Bedford High School in the class of 1960 and Indiana State University in 1964.
His career in was spent at various radio stations including WBIW and WSAL.
Richard served in the Indiana Nationa; Guard and was a memberof the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250.
He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Lisa Ayers, Elaine Sutton, Karen Haseltine, Kathy Logan; three stepchildren, Richard Young, Leland Ames and Kimberly Ames; one sister, Barbara Fultz; eight grandchildren; five step grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 23rd at 1:00PM at Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Visitation will be from 10:00AM until 12:45PM on Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home.
