John D. "Jack" Canfield, 75, Bedford

John D. Canfield of Bedford, known to friends and family as “Jack,” passed away Monday evening at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis at the age of 75.

Born in 1933 in Shoals to Harry and Vern Canfield, Jack worked in the grocery business at Midtown Food market in Bedford, and also worked at the Bedford Kroger and owned Canfield Grocery, also in Bedford, and was also a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church serving as President of the Parish Council, Knights of Columbus Council #1166, and served as a board member of the Southern Indiana Center for Independent Living.

He is survived by his wife Mira Jo, daughters Cathy and Terri, son Michael, sister Lucile, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Jane and 1 brother in infancy.

Services will be held Friday morning at 10:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with burial to follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00pm at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
