Eugene Pruett, 89, Mitchell

Eugene Pruett of Mitchell passed away Thursday morning at his home at the age of 89.

Born in 1919 in Mitchell to Artie and Vanice Pruett, Eugene was an Army veteran of World War II, Boy Scout leader introducing the first soap box derby, and worked at Carpenter Body Works, minister at Old Union Christian Church, charter member of Tulip Street Christian Church and member of Limestone Crusaders and Cecil Martin American Legion Post Number 250.

He is survived his wife Ruth, sister Maxine, and several nieces, nephews, and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Evelyn.

Services will be held Monday morning at 10:30am at the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mitchell Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00pm Sunday and again from 9:00am until time of service Monday at Chastain.
