William Asa "Bill" Tanksley, 65, Bedford

William Asa Tanksley of Bedford, known to friends and family as “Bill,” passed away Sunday night at Bloomington Hospital at the age of 65.

Born in 1943 in New Albany to Kenneth and Madaline Tanksley, Bill was a retired iron worker at GM, veteran of the US Air Force, and member of Donica Church of Christ, UAW Local 440 and Iron Workers Local 22.

He is survived by his wife Jacque, daughters Janine, Loren and Jennifer, sisters Priscilla and Sue, brother Frank, 7 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim and grandson Loren.

Services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00am at Hillcrest Christian Church with burial to follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be tomorrow from 2:00 until 8:00pm at Day & Carter Mortuary.
