Mary Helen McDonald Sproles, 93, of Heltonville, went to be with the Lord at 4:15 a.m. Thursday at her son's home. She was the daughter of Della K. East Denniston Bridewell and Thomas S. Bridwell. She was a life-long member of the Heltonville Christian Church and a volunteer worker for the Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.
If asked how she was, she would answer "For age ad milage, I'm doing okay, or "I don't know, I've never been this age before." Her favorite word was "Indubitably" when asked what it meant, she would reply. "It's so, because I said it was". She never met a stranger and spoke to everyone.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, Christian and true patriot of the United States. She was for prayer in school and against abortion. Politicians at all levels knew how she felt about these issues.
Her two "Blessed Puppies" Benji and Lacey were with her when she passed.
Survivors include two sons, Larry McDonald and Gray McDonald, both of Heltonville; one daughter, Linda McDonald Watson, of Vero Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter, two step sons Cecil and Ronnie Sproles, of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, three half brothers, Berel and Harold Denniston and Floyd Bridwell, one half sister Mable Bridwell Wood, one step daughter Dorothy Sproles-Hughes McDonald and one step son Robert "Bob" Sproles.
Arrangements are being conducted by Jones Funeral Home in Heltonville. At her request there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
Her remains are to be cremated and placed at the burial site of her parents in Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville. A plaque is to be attached to the existing tombstone with the names of her children
