Dale Allen Stroud - Mitchell
Dale Allen Stroud, 73, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012, at his residence.
Born September 26, 1939, in Bedford, he was the son of Ermel Roy and Ethel Mae (Carter) Stroud. He married Mary Lou McQuown January 23, 1960. He had been employed as a truck driver for D. A. Lubricant in Indianapolis. Dale was a fan of Go Cart Racing, basketball, and owner of Country Candles. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
Survivors include wife, Mary Lou Stroud, of Mitchell; children, Donna Stroud-Woody, of Mitchell, Dennis Stroud and wife Michelle L., of Arkansas, Douglas Stroud and wife Michelle R., of Campbellsburg; grandchildren, Damon Woody, Dana Woody, Ryan Stroud, Kayla Stroud, Michael Stroud, C. J. Torres, Jacob Stroud, Taylor Stroud; great grandchildren, Calob Barron, Teagan Woody, and Marissa Stroud; half brother, Craig Campbell, of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rick Stroud.
Funeral service will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. A reception will follow the service at the American Legion Post No. 250. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen.

Kenneth W. Sanders - Shoals
Kenneth W. Sanders, 90, of Shoals, passed away at 6:06 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Loogootee Nursing Center.
Born in Martin County, on December 28, 1921 he was the son of John F. and Nellie (Hopkins) Sanders. He married Ruby (Harder) Boyd on August 16, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Loogootee and she preceded him in death on October 6, 2011.
Upon completion of his education in Martin County Schools he enlisted in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky serving in the armored infantry during WWII European Theater, France and Germany. His military service was exemp.ary having received the American Defense Ribbon, FAME Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, good conduct ribbon and the armored infantry badge ribbon.
He was a farmer in Martin County for more than 45 years. He and his wife were avid bowlers and enjoyed all of their bowling family. He was a dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Loogootee and served on the church council and various other leadership positions within the church. He was a member of the Shoals American Legion Post 61 and White River Co-Op, serving as a board member for 8 years.
Survivors include daughter Thelma and husband, Don Swor, of Anthony, Florida, stepdaughter, Linda and Tom Cannon, of Kokomo; stepsons Gary Boyd and wife Donna, of Bedford, Dale Boyd and wife Patricia, of Shoals, Robert Boyd, of Shoals; Step daughter-in-law Gayla Boyd, of Greene County; several grandchildren; great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.; one sister, Alma Allen, of Ft. Myer, Florida, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Betty (Waggoner) Sanders, five brothers, John, William, Carl, Bob and Harry Richards; two sisters, Violet Fisher, Mary Sanders (in infancy), granddaughters, Christa Body, stepson, Larry Boyd and brother-in-law Robert Allen.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4th at Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals with funeral services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Loogootee. American Legion Post 61 will accord military grave site rites.

Linda Fay Clifton - Washington
Linda Fay Clifton, 66, of Washington and formerly of Shoals, passed away on Friday December 1, 2012 at Indiana University Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born in Martin County, April 5, 1946 to George and Catherine (Tinkle) Brown. She married Stan Clifton on April 19, 1968 in Lawrenceville, Ill. and he survives.
Linda was a graduate of Shoals High School, Class of 1964. She was the office manager of Service Master Clean and County Wide Construction, both of Washington. She greatly enjoyed playing bingo, riding motorcycles and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Stan Clifton, of Washington; three sons, Steve Clifton and wife Mary Clifton, of Washington, Scott Clifton and wife Sue of Washington, Darin Clifton and fiancé Julie Berry, of Evansville; granddaughters, Sarina, Stefanie and Peighton Clifton; Shannon and Shayna Scott and Abby Spaulding; grandsons, Hunter Clifton and Tyler Scott; one great grandson, Caleb Secrist; two sisters, Helen and husband Harold Seacat, of Shoals and Esters Jones, of Loogootee; one brother, George D. "Frog" and Vicky Brown, of Jasper.
She was preceded in death by his parents; son Stanley Clifton Jr. (in infancy); three brothers, Richard, William and John Brown and one sister, Joanne Combs.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals with funeral services on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals.

Brett E. Short - Bedford
Brett E. Short, 52, of Bedford, passed away at 1:55 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at I. U. Health, Bloomington.
Born July 5, 1960 in Bedford he was the son of Roy and Marjorie (Browning) Short. He had last worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Seymour, IN; he was a member of Fairview Community Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been a member of the Indiana National Guard; he loved to garden and was an avid movie buff. Brett fought a courageous battle with his heart condition many years, and remained very positive throughout.
Survivors include his sister, Sandy Landreth and husband Jeff, of Bedford; two nieces, Crystal Smalley, of Denver, CO and Stacy Blackburn, of Bedford; one great nephew, Dayton and two great nieces, Sarah and Joplynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Tom Canada.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Community Church, 417 Old US Hwy 50 East, Bedford, with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call on Tuesday, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford.
