Rosemary Trowbridge - Mitchell
Rosemary Trowbridge, 85, of Mitchell, passed away at 3:57 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012 at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born December 9, 1926, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Roy and Louise (Merry)
Hopper. Rosemary retired from RCA with 25 years of service.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Pittman, of Mitchell; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sister, Kay Tanksley, of Mitchell
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rita Terrell; and sisters, Elsie Dorsett, Colleen Pridemore, and Betty Edwards.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, in Mitchell Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Neva June Luse - Oolitic
Neva June Luse, 93, of Oolitic, passes away on Saturday, April 26, 2012 from complications after a fall.
Born on June 13, 1919, she was the daughter of Clarence and Edith (Kirkman) May. She married Alonzo (Bill) Luse on August 5, 1939 and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2006.
She was a 1936 graduate of Needmore High School. She graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Elementary Education and an MS in Early Childhood Education. She began her teaching career at the age of 19 serving schools in Ellettsville, Mitchell, Bedford, but mainly as a kindergarten teacher for North Lawrence Community Schools. After retiring in 1981 after 43 years of teaching, she became a realtor for Keach & Grove. She was a member and past president of Bedford Board of Realtors, member and past president of Bedford Altrusa, Exchange Club and pat recipient of Bedford's Book of Golden Deeds Award.
She was a member of Avoca Baptist Church where she was a church organist for over 60 years. Upon her retirement from the organ in 2008, she was awarded the Lifetime Service Award from the Bedford Baptist Association.
Active also in Indiana government, she was named Counsel to the Attorney General in 1987 and appointed by Gov. Evan Bayh as a member of the Indiana commission for Women in 1995. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Ray Fry Outstanding Alumni Award from the Needmore High School Alumni Association.
Survivors include one son, Jon and wife Merrilou Luse, of Scottsburg; two daughters Jill and husband Bob Orender, of Bedford and Jaynnee and husband George Simmerman, of Oolitic; 10 grandchildren, Sally James, Chris Luse, Sarah and husband Drew Holt, Geoff and wife Missy Orender, Polly and husband Chris Hamilton, Tim and wife Jonetta Orender, Dr. Courtney and husband Michael Miskuf, Cyle and wife Tara Luse, Tristan and wife Adrea Simmerman, Britt Simmerman. 23 great greandchilden, Joshua James, Jonathon James, Nicholas Luse, Cameron Luse, Gabrielle Holt, Mason Holt, Clayton Orender, Megan Orender, Victoria Orender, Mitchell Hamilton, Macee Hamilton, Joby Turner, Jesse Turner, Jalen Turner, Alex Blackwell, Xachary Blackwell, Kendyll Blackwell, Fletcher Miskuf, Aaron Miskuf, Lily Luse, Haylen Luse, Jacob Simmerman and Jacey Simmerman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, one daughter, Jolene Luse, one brother Clovis May.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1 at Avoca Baptist Church with Pastor Kyle Witmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 30th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence County Community Foundation Scholarship fund.

Bettie L. Turner - Bedford
Bettie L. Turner, 85, of Bedford, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Mitchell Manor.
Born June 25, 1926 in Lawrence County she was the daughter of James Leonard and Stella (Flynn) Martin. She married Ervin D. Turner on July 5, 1941 and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1993. She worked as a medical assistant at Sunny Acres Rest Home and retired as a Nurse's Aide from Dunn Memorial Hospital after 18 years, after her retirement she worked as a private duty caregiver. She attended Free Methodist Church and also Rivers Edge Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Turner and wife Norma, of Mitchell, Dennis Turner, of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Sandra Clark and husband Paul of Terre Haute, Judy Turner and her companion Daniel Pinto, of Bedford, Terri Scott and husband Brian, of Mitchell, Zachary Turner and wife Roseanna, of Oolitic, Josh Turner, of Knoxville, Tina Reynolds and her husband Chris of Vancouver, WA; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Pauline Jerrells, Dorothy Wright, Juanita Johnson; three brothers, James Martin, Howard Cassidy and Lloyd Cassidy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will follow in the Judah Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be at 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
