A number of methamphetamine-related arrests were made in Lawrence County during the weekend, with all of the county’s law enforcement agencies having been involved in the investigations.

The Oolitic Town Marshal arrested three people on Saturday. All were booked into the Lawrence County jail at 11:50 p.m.

Arrested and charged were:

• Katrina Saunders, 47, Bloomington, conspiracy to manufacture meth; unlawful sale of a precursor; possession of precursor with intent to manufacture meth.

• Jeramiah Fox, 33, Nashville, conspiracy to manufacture meth, possession of precursors with intent to manufacture meth.

• Morgan Fox (listed as Morgan Lambert on the jail booking log), 23, Nashville, conspiracy to manufacture meth, unlawful sale of a precursor, and possession of precursors with the intent to manufacture meth.

All three remained in custody this morning. Bond for each was set at $5,005 cash or $50,000 surety.

A news release from the Oolitic Town Marshal’s office reports that Officer Bill Allen assisted a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy who stopped a suspicious vehicle at Hopkins Cemetery in Needmore. Allen reports that, during the investigation, officers detected a strong chemical odor. “Further investigation led to the discovery of an active ‘one pot meth lab’ and several precursors,” the news release reads. The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was called to dispose of the lab and chemicals.

In addition to the Oolitic arrests, two people are facing drug-related charges after police officers in Mitchell stopped them Sunday afternoon and found both to be in possession of drugs.

Jackie D. Harris, 44, Orleans, was arrested for possession of less than 3 grams of methamphetamine.

The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Braidon M. Gilstrap of Mitchell, was arrested for driving a vehicle while never licensed, illegal consumption, possession of paraphernalia and possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana.

According to Mitchell Police Chief Mike Hardman, officers Cain Gilstrap and JD England pulled over a vehicle on Frank Street, near the Wesleyan church, at 5:54 p.m. Sunday.

Those in the vehicle were acting suspicious, so the officers patted them down, checking for weapons. No weapons were found, but the officers did locate both marijuana and methamphetamine, Hardman said.

Both suspects were placed under arrest at 6:26 p.m. and taken to the Lawrence County Security Center, where they remained this morning. Both are being held on $755 cash, or $7,500 surety bonds.

Police logs also show three meth-related arrests were made by the Bedford Police Department over the weekend.

Amy Canfield, 33, Springville, was taken into custody at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. She was charged with possession of meth, two counts of possession of a legend drug, and maintaining a common nuisance. She remains in custody at the Lawrence County jail. No bond was set because she already was out on bond for a previous charge.

Two additional arrests were made  by Bedford police later on Saturday, stemming from a call for police to report to Wal-Mart. BPD Chief Dennis Parsley was unavailable to discuss specifics of the case. Teela Mitternight (listed as Tia Clevenger on the jail booking  log) was taken into custody at 4:51 p.m. Saturday and charged with possession of meth and possession of a controlled substance. She remains in jail and her bond is set at $755 cash or $7,500 surety.

Zachariah Russell, 28, 887 Tripleton Pike, Bedford, was booked into the jail at 5 p.m. Saturday and charged with possession of meth, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and two counts of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance. He remains in custody and no bond was set because he already was out on bond on a previous charge.
