Bloomington Man Arrested After Forging Paternity Test

(BLOOMFIELD) - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 22-year-old Joseph Oakley, of Bloomington, after he allegedly forged his signature, photo and fingerprint on a 2007 paternity test ordered by the child support division for the Greene County prosecutor’s office.

According to police, Oakley submitted to an oral swab for a DNA test on Aug. 31, 2007 using the name of Lee Randall Wilbur, claiming he was the father to the a baby in question.

When the DNA test did not come back as a match from Labcorp Inc. on September 2, 2007, Oakley is also alleged to have provided a thumbprint and photograph using Wilbur's name as identification to officials who were investigating a child support claim. Oakley allegedly spelled Randall wrong on the authorization forms.

During the investigation, child support officials showed the mother in the case the photo that was submitted by Oakley and she stated she that was not Wilbur. Police say Wilbur and Oakley do look similar.

Detectives were able to obtain Wilbur's fingerprint from his arrest files and found it did not match the fingerprint submitted during the paternity test.

Police found Oakley in the Monroe County Jail. He had been arrested in September 2011 on two counts of dealing meth and one count of dealing in a counterfeit substance.

Police meet with Oakley on January 12 about the forgery and he told police he did not know a Lee Randall Wilbur. Police told Oakley they had his photo and fingerprint and a DNA sample, at that point Oakley requested a attorney be present during questioning.

No charges have been filed against Wilbur.
