Bedford Police Warn Of Banking Scam
(BEDFORD, IN) - The Bedford Police Department received four complaints of a telephone scam where the caller represented themselves as a German American Bank employee.
The complainants were told that their checking accounts would be closed if they did not press the "1" key. The person was then asked to enter their debit card number.
The Bedford Police Department would like to remind citizens that legitimate banking institutions do not solicit ATM card numbers of account numbers from clients. If you received one of these calls and complied with the request you are encouraged to contact the member service area of your banking institution.
