Worthington Man Charged With Injuring Special Needs Child
(WORTHINGTON, IN) - A 28-year-old Worthington man is facing preliminary charges of battery after allegedly whipping a special needs child he was baby-sitting.
Timothy L. Lovell was arrested on a warrant of battery resulting in bodily injury to a minor following reports by the boy's mother of the child having several red marks on her son's face and large welted areas on his buttocks shortly after picking her son up from the Lovell residence October 19th.
Lovell reportedly watched the boy from 10:00AM until 12:00PM.
Lovell admitted to whipping the boy on the buttocks twice but says he wasn't aware he struck hard enough to leave any marks; the man had no explanation for the marks on the boy's face.
Lovell is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing on November 4th.
