Suspect In IU Rape Case Kills Himself
(ATLANTA, GA) - A 50 year-old UPS executive from Georgia, accused of raping a 21-year-old Indiana University student in Bloomington last month, killed himself Friday in a hotel north of Atlanta.
According to the Bloomington Herald-Times, a hotel maid entered a room registered to Mark Samoline and discovered his body just before noon Friday.
He had reportedly hung himself and left a suicide note.
Samoline had appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the rape charge last Monday after bonding out of the Monroe County Jail.
UPS had put Samoline on administrative leave pending the outcome of the charges against him.
