Last updated on Thursday, November 19, 2009
(COLUMBUS, IN) - A woman who drove her car into a Bartholomew County Lake late Wednesday morning escaped from the sunken car without serious injuries.
According to The Republic, 34 year-old Shannon Smith of Columbus accidentally drove into the man-made lake when she suffered a coughing spell, reached for medication and got her heel caught on the gas pedal.
Authorities say her window was down, so she was able to swim free from the car which sunk in about 25 feet of water.
