Clerk-Treasurer Overpaid $60,000
(BROWNSTOWN, IN) - State and Federal police are investigating the town records of Brownstown after a field representative with the Indiana Board of Accounts discovered that Brownstown’s Clerk-Treasurer was being overpaid about $60,000.
Public records show Rebecka Fee was paid more than $100,000 this year through the town's October 22nd pay period.

A check of records Wednesday shows that 54-year-old Rebeckah "Becky" Fee, who hasn't appeared for work at town hall since sometime around October 16th, last received a town payroll check on October 8th and has been cashed.
Her last paycheck included the $1,564.98 bi-weekly gross pay, which was set in the city's 2009 salary ordinance, plus an unexplained $3,500, for a gross pay of $5,064.98.
Town officials say Rebeckah Fee handled payroll time sheets and processed payroll checks for herself and other town employees before she stopped going to work.
Brownstown Town Councilman Jim Phillips stated the the total payroll amount for each month was written down in a report by Rebeckah Fee and given to the council for review.
Phillips states "the payroll amount she reported was what it should have been."
The council has since changed the reporting process on how payroll information is given to the council.
Although Deputy Clerk-treasurer Cathy Roberts to is now performing Fee's duties in her absence, Rebeckah Fee remains the elected clerk-treasurer at this time.
