Plane Crash Pilot In Fair Condition

(BEDFORD, IN) - 29-year-old Gary Fender, a new pilot to the Virgil I. Grissom Municipal Airport whose plane crashed while being taxied down the runway is in fair condition at an Indianapolis hospital.

Fender was reportedly being taxied down on runway 3-1 when one of the ultra-light's wings dropped, bringing the nose of the aircraft down causing it to overturn.

According to Ray Sexton, airport manager, Fender was taken to Dunn Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle suffering injuries believed to be on his legs.

After being taken to Dunn Hospital, Fender was flown by helicopter to the Indianapolis hospital.

Sexton said that Fender is a new pilot and the plane was a new plane.
