(BLOOMFIELD) - On Sunday, a teenager riding a bicycle was sent by helicopter to Riley Hospital Sunday afternoon after sustaining injuries in a collision with a pick-up truck.

16-year-old Matthew Whitmer was traveling through Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield and was approaching State Road 57 and struck a Ford f-250 pickup truck while turning onto the highway, according to police reports.

The boy was thrown from bike.

The driver of the pickup 44-year-old John Jarrett reported that Whitmer didn't seem to slow down.

The condition of the boy was unavailable on Sunday.

He was driven by ambulance to a Bloomington fire station and then airlifted to Riley Children's Hospital.
