(UNDATED) - Several severe storms hammered parts of the listening area last night and into this morning.

Heavy rains, thunder and lots of lightning were in the area early this morning, and with the high amount of rain received in such a short amount of time this morning water levels in rivers and in small streams raised rapidly, causing the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for Lawrence County at 4:30 this morning.

INDOT is also reporting that SR 450 is closed between US 50 in Shoals and SR 37 in Bedford due to the high water.

With the threat of rain still in the forecast for both Friday and Saturday it may take awhile before streams recede to normal levels.

The National Weather Service has also issued a flood warning for most of the listening area until 3:30 this afternoon.
