(BLOOMINGTON) - A Monroe County jury convicted the Paoli man who performed an exorcism on an autistic teen in 2007.

The 14-year-old victim's grandmother had sought the exorcism for the boy.

24-year-old Eddie Uyesugi was a minister in training at the Cherry Hill Christian Center in Bloomington when he agreed to perform the ceremony, but the center's church leaders testified his actions were inappropriate.

Uyesugi claims he was trying to help the boy and admitted to punching him in the face and chest resulting in two black eyes and several bruises.

He now faces up to 16 years in prison for the convictions of battery and criminal confinement.
