Storms Bring Hail, Not Much Else

(UNDATED) - The rumors of South Central Indiana’s demise appear to be much exaggerated.

At 4:30pm, NWS tornado warnings expired after about an hour of activity, and, despite reports provided by NWS meteorologists, there didn't appear to be any tornado.

Lawrence County, Jackson County, Mitchell and Bedford Police Department dispatch rooms all tell WBIW News no significant damage has been reported as of 4:40pm, and dispatchers in Mitchell say, despite the City South of the River being one of the storm's focal points, they spent more time handling weather warnings than they did actual problem calls.

The NWS reported possible rotation traveling from the Bono/Tunnelton areas northeast toward Medora and Brownstown, however, nothing seems to have materialized.

Hail, however, was the primary problem of the storm system that just passed through. WBIW's very own Johnny Henderson tells WBIW News that, while driving on IN-37 between Mitchell and Orleans, the hail got thick enough to resemble a snowstorm.

The worst of the storms, so far, have passed by the WBIW listening area for the most part, however, there is another large storm system passing through the St. Louis, MO area that may reach us by morning, with a possibility of other smaller cells in between.
