(BEDFORD) - A Jasonville man was severely injured when he was run over by his own car in a Bedford alley Saturday afternoon.

Bedford Police Department reports say 27-year-old William Hilderbrand II of Jasonville was trying to release the parking brake of his vehicle parked in an alley spot on Washington Avenue when he accidentally shifted the car into reverse.

Hilderbrand told police that when the car started moving, he fell and was run over.

Police say they observed tire tread impressions running diagonally across his chest and pressure abrasions on his back.

Hildrebrand was transported to Dunn Memorial Hospital, and was then airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

No one else was involved in the incident.
