Shoals Couple Arrested For Felony Drug Charges After Traffic Stop
(SHOALS) - A Martin County couple faces a series of drug related charges after getting pulled over by police late Wednesday night.
Jasper State Police Sgt. Chad Dick reports 27-year-old Rachel Moffitt and 32-year-old Thomas Moffitt stopped a gold Dodge near Shoals High School just before midnight Tuesday, and when he approached the car, he reportedly detected an odor of burnt marijuana.
When the trooper checked the car, he reports finding more than 100 grams of marijuana as well as other schedule iii and legend drugs, along with a child in the car.
The Moffitts were arrested and charged with a series of felonies including possession and neglect of a dependent.
The child was released to relatives.
