(BEDFORD) - The office of Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis informs us the City of Bedford has been awarded $125,000 in community development block grant funding for repairs and improvements to homes within Bedford city limits.

The city says about 10 homes are expected to be awarded with up to $13,000 in grants, and that 30 people have already applied.

The homes must be owner-occupied single-family homes (most trailers don't count), and cannot be in the process of being purchased on contract. The owner of the home must carry homeowners insurance.

Homeowners must be making 80% or less of the area's median income. That breaks down to the following amounts per person in household:

1. $29,950/year
2. $34,250/year
3. $38,500/year
4. $42,800/year
5. $46,200/year
6. $49,650/year
