(DUGGER) - A little good economic news for the listening area.

St. Louis based Peabody Energy announced yesterday morning that they have entered into agreements to provide more than 90 million tons of coal, and that will allow for further development of Peabody's Bear Run Mine on the Greene/Sullivan County line near Dugger.

Peabody, which claims to be the largest coal company in the world on their site, says between $350 and $450 million will be invested into the mine, and that development will generate an opportunity for up to 350 skilled workers at the facility.

By the end of the development, the bear run mine should be the largest surface coal mine east of the Mississippi River.
