Mitchell Caterer Severely Damaged By Fire, Cause Not Yet Found
(MITCHELL) - Marion Township firefighters earned their paychecks for certain Wednesday morning.
At 9:31am, crews were called to the Cedar Hill Catering building on IN-37 for a fire.
Marion Capt. Richard Padgett tells WBIW News they arrived to see pressurized black smoke pouring out of the building, and a heavy fire in the back kitchen area.
The center of the front of the building, and the entire back section along with the roof were a total loss, but the extensions on the side received only minor damage. State fire marshals are still investigating the cause of the fire.
Marion firefighters were then asked to assist with a field fire in Ft. Ritner along with Guthrie, Shawsick and Jackson County crews according to Lawrence County logs, an accident in Mitchell, and a medical call on Yockey Road, all before lunch time.
